We have a
lot of farms in our area! With an ever growing recall on foods that are massed
produced we are lucky to have access to so much, so close! We have Dyer Dairy
off Hwy29 that carries cheeses and fresh milk. Honey and Bee lectures from Bost
Bees Farm, Organic produce from DayStar and Ol Thyme Gardens in Taylor. We have
many farmers markets including Hutto and Taylor and the big news this year is
Monument Market! Pattie from the Monument Café Group has done an incredible job
starting and organizing the farmers market. They will have classes, lectures and
most important– fresh local foods. Off hwy 29 there are many tree farms. Pecan
orchards that offer you pick em, a Christmas tree stand, and a commercial tree
supplier. Best of all we have an organic nursery that sells organic certified
plants to start out your gardens at Gabriel Valley Farms!

TIPS:
A dependable pickup truck is inescapable. Whether it's for hauling hay and feed, carrying supplies to mend fences, or rescuing a calf, the truck is the primary work horse.
Starting a hobby farm may seem daunting, but the challenges are very enjoyable for the entire family and will provide lasting memories, if you take it one step at a time. Plan your farm for at least five years out, but don't etch it in stone. Slow down and enjoy each step of the way. A good rule of thumb for a novice is to never add more than one species of livestock per year.
Submit your farm info and join the Newsletter list at thecrookedcreekfarm.com and receive updates on produce available, planting times, monthly events and to do’s on your farm plus find the local chef that needs fresh produce in your area. Your farm info is posted on our facebook page.We have local farms and suppliers listed with contact info. Everything a small farm needs to get started including plant lists, pesticide alternatives, predator repellants, harvesting and selling tips.
Mission of The Crooked Creek Farm: Continue to expand the production of edibles, livestock and goods collected from our farm through continuing education, local networking and test gardens.
